Index Ventures and Stripe Back Pilot with $40M Series B

Pilot raised $40 million in Series B financing led by Index Ventures with participation from Stripe and its founders Patrick and John Collison, valuing the company at $355 million. The round validated Pilot's tech-enabled services model — combining software automation with human expertise for bookkeeping.
The funding enabled Pilot to launch Pilot Tax and expand its suite of back-office services. Founded by three MIT classmates who all attended TJHSST, Pilot's approach of pairing technology with expert accountants has resonated with thousands of startups that need reliable financial infrastructure but can't afford a full-time CFO.
