CHIKO Named One of DC's Most Important Restaurant Openings of 2017

Washingtonian's Ann Limpert reviewed CHIKO, the Chinese-Korean fast-casual restaurant opened by chefs Scott Drewno and Danny Lee on Barracks Row in Capitol Hill. The restaurant abandons fine dining formality in favor of a casual approach with metal trays, picnic-style seating, and a curated menu designed to eliminate poor dishes. Standout items include the "orange-ish" chicken, a brisket-and-rice bowl, cumin lamb noodles, and kimchi stew.

CHIKO was hailed by Zagat as one of "DC's Most Important Restaurant Openings of 2017" and was nominated by the James Beard Foundation as a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant. Tom Sietsema of The Washington Post gave CHIKO 3 stars (Excellent). The Fried Rice Collective (Drewno and Lee's restaurant group) was later nominated for Outstanding Restaurateur at the 2025 James Beard Awards.
