Anju Named #1 on Washingtonian's 100 Very Best Restaurants for 2020

Washingtonian magazine named Anju, the modern Korean restaurant in Dupont Circle owned by Danny Lee, Scott Drewno, and Drew Kim, as the number one restaurant in its prestigious "100 Very Best Restaurants" ranking for 2020. This marked a significant departure from tradition — previous top-ranked establishments were expensive tasting-menu restaurants, whereas Anju offers moderate pricing with an informal atmosphere.

Critic Ann Limpert praised the five-month-old restaurant for delivering "the most exciting" food in the city. Anju, whose name means "food to consume while drinking," also earned a three-star review from Tom Sietsema at The Washington Post. The restaurant was born from the ashes of the original Mandu location, which was destroyed by a fire in 2017.
